Day 1: Hearthrow Nightmare.

After a 1.5hour delay in departure time from Changi, I landed in this god forsaken place of a London at 6.35am, GMT+1. I took flight after the aircraft doors opened, and headed to the immigration hall. GOD. The queue was super long. Took me about 1 hour to clear the immigration. Just when I thought it was over, the immigration officer stopped me from clearing and pointed me to the Health Office. “There, go to the health office and get your medical.” WHAT? YOU MEAN I’M NOT DONE YET? Ok, so I headed over to the Health Office and got myself checked for TB. I didn’t bring my X-Ray, unlike everyone else, but I brought my report, so I cleared it quickly anyway. After that I collected my luggage, and went out to the arrival hall. The cab driver I was looking for wasn’t around, so I walked around for many circles. I almost gave up looking for the driver and took a tube, if not for a friendly old man. He was so so so sweet. He was walking around with a sign saying, “If you are a student, and you need help, approach me. It’s a free service.” Seeing me walking around lost in circles, he stopped me and offered me help. He found another driver from the same company which I was with, and asked that driver to help me. Such nice people in the United Kingdom. Anyway, that cab driver offered to send me to SW7 first, and call another cab for the person he was supposed to pick up. So off I left Hearthow, in a cab that didn’t belong to me, onto M4, right smack into a traffic jam. I wound down the windows, and enjoyed the cool London breeze. It took me 1hour and 40minutes for me to get to my hotel. Stuart Hotel, in the middle of Kensington, 10mins walk to campus.
