I had a pretty busy over the last weekend. I wasn’t at home for most of it, out having fun and looking around. I feel so bad not studying at all.
Saturday was Guy Fawkes Day. It’s a festival the people here celebrate to commemorate the attempt by this person called Guy Fawkes to blowup parliament house. It seemed kinda odd to me why someone would want to commemorate this sort of thing, until a kind Brit friend explained to me the significance of putting Guy Fawkes in eternal infamy. Guess the Brits aren’t that forgiving. It’s a festival celebrated with fireworks. Fireworks that you can buy in the local supermarket and igniting them in your very own garden at home. There was also a huge fireworks display at Battersea, but I decided not to go for it. It’s was Gerald’s birthday on Friday, so Jolyn organised a surprise dinner for him on Saturday with a couple of the MOE scholars and his classmates. I haven’t gotten the photos yet, so no photos! Ziyang went for the fireworks display though, and took a coupkle of amazing photos. I might get a couple of them…
Anyway on Sunday, I went on my usual Sunday walk with IC-Fellwanderers. We hit a town NW of London and took a nice walk along the forest trails. This was the shortest walk we have had so far, about 9miles, but it was also the most challenge to date as we were battling the elements. The rain was intermittent and we had gale force winds battering us when we walked on the open fells and valleys. Temperature was low and the wind was biting. It was a great experience though, sort of a warm up for next week’s weekend trip to the New Forest District where we are gonna camp out over 2 nights and the temperature’s slated to drop sub-zero.
This week’s a busy week as it’s a lab week again. Not to mention that the lab assignment this week requires much more planning and research even though it’s much easier. Steam Distillation and determination of Electrophilic Aromatic Substitution. I’m having my lunch break now, and that can explain the slacking… Gotta hit the lab at 2. Adios.

that probably explains why i feel 2 weeks behind in my lectures and tutorials… hmm, I haven’t bothered to go do research on my lecture topics either. Wait till my dissitations and research papers pile up
And it’s also because my exams are not remotely near yet. I got exams in Jan, and I got a 3week xmas break to study for that.
It’s all about… choices.
