Yesterday I attended a dinner with Mr Chiang, Permanent Secretary (Defence)/Prime Minister’s Office. It was supposed to be a dialogue, but it ended up more like casual makan session cum social event. We didn’t really talk much about serious issues, it was really an off the cuff, meet the students thingy. I signed up only last minute, and didn’t expect to find any IC people there, only to find out that at least 1/3 of the attendees were from IC. I also met some new friends, like Yanni, this 2nd year medic from Kings, Desmond, someone from Nottingham. More importantly, it was the food. Rendang Beef, Kailan in Oyster Sauce, Asam Fish Curry… OMG. I never thought I would see any of these here in London. Bless you Contact Singapore for knowing how much we all missed home food. Anyway, I didn’t spend too much time talking to the PS, busy socialising. The singapore student community in London is actually quite a close knit one, as I have come to find out. I also met Fidel at the dinner! Gosh, it’s been so long since I saw him. He’s now working at GlaxoSmithKline in Harrow for a year as attachment. Envvvvy. GSK, gosh. And he calls himself a Protein Biochemist. Right…
