I have learnt so much today.

Sad to say, I failed to be elected for ICSS, but it may not necessarily be a bad matter. Because I’ve learnt so much more about myself today. And I kept my promise by declining nominations for the subsequent posts. Looks like there’s gonna be so much travelling in the next AY.

Sista Eda , I have to thank you right here and now, for your unexpected support despite your busy schedule as a medical student. I thank you from the bottom of my heart for the words you said to me, and the faith you had in me when you looked me in the eyes and said it. I could see it in your eyes that you meant it, and it was not something to console me. You have touched me and made me believe my dreams. Really, thank you. My heart-felt thanks to Gabriel, Melissa, Alvin, Malcolm, Tony, Eunice, Doris, Yunlei, Diane and all others who took time off their busy schedules to show their support for me, and weighed on my decisions when the swing votes matter. For the trust you put in me, and the hopes you had in me. Sorry I let you down and made you waste a whole afternoon. I think the Returning Officer was surprised you people even bothered turning up.

I didn’t think things would end up like this, but I guess sometimes we have to expect the unexpected. When things happen, they just do. Well, now it’s time to focus on getting the NJC network set up properly as I’ve promised Jacq I would over the trip back home in Easter.

I may have lost the elections, but I’ve gained so much more today. I saw who really mattered, who were hiding behind the masks. I saw the true sides in people, and the true side of myself. The loss didn’t matter, for I truly saw myself today.
Thank you Eda. For if not for you today, I might not have seen. We’ll go skiing again together in Christmas this year, I promise.

Some things just don’t matter as much as you think they do. Really.
