I feel like an ass now. Why? Cos I’ve been shown the way by an angel today.

I was on the plane just now, and beside me sat this old lady with a social worker beside her. This old lady had a broken arm, so she had some difficulty trying to fit into the small budget airline seat. But all went well after we took off, so she had a Gin and Tonic, and we made some small chat.

The old lady was going to die. She’s 94, and in the advanced stages of cancer and renal failure. She’s insistant on going back to her hometown to die in peace. She had just celebrated 70years of marriage to her old man. Although we only had about an hour’s worth of conversation, she made me learn many things. There are many things in life, many of which would seem like hurdles to us, problems which may seem too big to overcome. But in the end, the mountain is never as high as it seems. To me, my problems seemed huge, but it’s just me blowing it out of proportion. This old lady next to me was in the last few days of her life, but she showed me that these problems are miniscule. They are just painful. But pain is hardly forever. Death is. In our short lives, we should make a difference, just like she made in mine.
