Spending Easter Sunday in Florence is an adventure all by itself, but that’s another post for another day. Now, where did I stop? Oh yes, the beautiful country of Montenegro…

Montenegro is a very new country, having only become really independent last year after splitting from Serbia. Although the reputation of the country is not very good, this was a country I had a lot of fun. I was in the city of Kotor, one of the leading coastal cities of this beautiful country.

There was the usual old city, city walls and town square, but what really was different was the mountain just huge mountain that was just behind the city overlooking it and the bay. Being adventurous, we decided to tackle it even though we were soon to lose daylight, for an amazingly rewarding view and that top of the world feeling.

Oh yea, in order to save time, we decided to start scrambling up the cliffs and slopes instead of taking the long winding road. Led by the very garang Yifeng, we started our vertical scaling, totally enjoying the climb and the sweat.

Up up and away, just being careful not to fall! Lucky I had much experience with the Fellwanderers, just a typical day in a lovely town of Kotor.

The next day, we took a daytrip out of Kotor to the nearby town of Centinje. We wanted to go up to Mt Lovćen, so we hired a driver to bring us up the mountain. On the way up, he suddenly stopped, turned to us, and said, "Snow, machine KAPUTTT" and shaking his head while pointing in front.

HUH? After playing a few more minutes of Charades, we finally got the message. The heavy snowfall the night before had put the road up to the mountain under waist deep of snow. The machine they used to clear the snow had broken down, hence the KAPUTTTT. Oh well, on to Lake Skadar instead then.

Not before building our very own snowman.
