complicated simplicity

Yun has always called me a nerd/geek, and laughed about it in her own ways. And I do admit and enjoy being one! But you see, we can be cool too.

I have taken up a habit of never working from home. I never work at home, so whenever I have things to do, I usually end up at a cafe somewhere with coffee, internet, juice for my lappy and chuck my way through. Happens in London, happens here. Wireless in the city now makes things even more fun, but I’m just hooked on Geek Terminal’s wireless now while I prep for tomorrow’s launch event.

A few days ago I was really feeling down, so someone was kind enough to call me to offer me some advice on how to chill out and give myself a "soft reset" in geek terms. So I "have to dream and refocus", fine.

This is what I want.

Material:

1. Macbook;
2. D40 with 18-200 lenses;
3. My very own BMW 6-series convertible;
4. Revamped personal room;
5. WIFI handphone;
6. Baby Blues full collection;
7. iPod;
8. Bose sound system;
9. 42" HD LCD TV;
10. The new Corrinne May album!
11. Unlocked iPhone

Non-material:

1. A listening ear to collapse into;
2. A non-location-bound job;
3. Non KPI bound job;
4. Time to be myself;
5. Space to allow my photographic creativity;
6. More good friends;
7. Smile more;
8. Sleep later;
9. Carefree;
10. Ability to isolate myself from everything;
11. Ability to stop working and stop getting myself involved in all sorts of activism;
12. Not survive on caffeine;
13. Play piano;
14. Finding a dance partner I used to have;
15. Perfect my waltz/quickstep;
16. Learn latin;
17. Speak fluent French;
18. Run my own companies;
19. Work overseas for a while;
20. Get my fitness level back up;

Now, laugh at the incredulous list.

Don’t worry, I’ll get it done, all I need as advised, is "all the time and money you’ve got in the world." But somethings in the list defines being me. I just hate myself sometimes for being me, but maybe it’s time to change somethings bout myself.
