Recently I purchased a Nikon d40 for use to pursue my photography interest. I have been doing photography for a while now, but mainly chose to stick to the point-and-shoot compact cameras for ease of use and portability. However, I got pretty fed up of missing shots due to their slow start up times and response times, as well as their lack of capabilities sometimes expected.

Since the sensor of my Canon IXUS 500 was also dying, I decided to make the leap. I have no dreams of the highest end cameras, for example Nikon D3, but all I wanted was something which was good enough for my needs. I managed to get my camera from a fellow interest photographer who was upgrading to the Nikon d80.

Up to now, I have made about 400 shots with the camera, covering several events and street shoots, and I am very much satisfied with it. Now for a couple more things to add to my arsenal and I’ll be done: Nikkor 18-200mm VR lens, an SB-400 Flash, and a decent tripod!
