FULL-TIME National Serviceman Corporal Dave Teo Ming triggered a islandwide security alert on Monday night after he walked out of his Army camp with his SAR-21 assault rifle and several bullets.
After a 20-hour manhunt, police arrested the 20-year-old NSF at 8pm at Orchard Cineleisure, a cinema cum shopping complex in the heart of the Orchard Road tourist belt.
The Straits Times understands that the NSF was in possession of his SAR-21 rifle, loaded with several 5.56mm bullets, when policemen arrested him.

Edit: Next week ORD, not next month
Edit 2: Apparantly their CO told the men not to spread the word around that someone went AWOL armed too. Informant told me he jumped out of guardhouse window. Eh, not sure to believe or not.

So that’s what he was wanted for.
The guards in the guard house weren’t doing their jobs. Someone left the camp with a rifle and no one knew about it?
Don’t they search the bags of NSF before they leave the camp? That was the usual practise when I was serving my NS. This matter won’t stop at Dave alone. Many others would be punished because of his stupidity.

Many many heads will roll. CO, RSM… Ouch. I can hear their ranks hit the ground with a ‘clang’. Pity.

I almost never had my bags searched before entering/leaving camp, except for the one time that something got stolen in camp.

Think of this…..You are on Duty, You are guarding the Camp Gate. It is a Saturday, how many guards deem necessary for Gate Duty - 1 maybe. Will you be armed? Will you be equipped with rounds? All add together - CPL Dave Teo
You are a man. Your Girlfriend dump you for another Woman! Will you be emotionally unstable? I guess I will. But then again, probably have to use the kidneys to think deeper if brain not enough. All not worth it. What the family go through now is definitely not nice. Will his Ex-GF feels guilty?

I would understand how upset he would feel. It’s just emotions messing with the brain. Poor chap.
