complicated simplicity

It’s been a really hectic past week, with many social and networking functions that I was obliged to turn up for and smile. Dinner for the whole week was out, having eaten at so many place with so many people that I barely had time to sit down and do work. Yes, sadly, I had to attend functions even on my birthday.  I was really hoping for a quiet dinner out. QUIET, no hassle, no bangs and whistles. I never liked big bashes for birthdays, never understood why anyone liked it.

It was quite hilarious this year, considering I had people who got my birthday on the wrong days.  So I celebrated on birthdays on the 19th, 20th, 21st and 22nd. Oh well, I played along on the wrong days, but I always whispered back to the kind soul that the day was wrong, but I really appreciated it. Daryl got his watch on Singapore time and date. Yun almost freaked out a day late with a hug. Pien was just nasty about it, with much affection attached to her words as there was sarcasm, her mouth full of nasi lemak on the night out. Karolyn just did it professionally with a handshake on the right day, right in the middle of the function. Even with 4 days, I’m only 1 year older.
