Driving without insurance is irresponsible. Drivers without valid car insurance are running the risk of their car being seized and crushed in a new police initiative in the UK. However, many people here are still doing it, because insurance is expensive. Over 50s car insurance, young drivers or mature drivers, the insurance premiums can be really high. It cost me an extra £30 a day the last time I rented a car to drive down to Dover and Brighton. It would have been cheaper if I was over 23 then, and held on to an European Union driver’s licence. But no, they would not even accept a Commonwealth one and forced me to pay… Bloody hell.
