Just after Christmas, Pien decided that since we were both going to be sooooo tied down with work that we should get ourselves out before we get buried in studying. So she planned a nice little surprise trip: Outdoor ice skating at Somerset House. She gathered a couple of other people, grabbed those (bloody expensive) tickets off the internet and pulled us all out for a night out.

So out we went, in the subzero temperature, skating around a lovely Christmas tree under the moonlit skies.

Lousy camera, thus the ghostly images. Mind you I am an pretty inexperienced ROLLERBLADER, and when it comes to the ice rink, I’m as good as a penguin running. Oh yea, you do not want to know the fall count. Pien on the other hand was a bloody figureskater by training and was practically whizzing by every minute and making me fall. BAH. No wonder when she decided to take a break, she decided skating for US.

I think the others were faring slight better than me, mainly because they didn’t have a pesky skater trying to make them fall every 10 seconds or so.

Then again, I have to admit ice skating outdoors, on The Strand, in front of Somerset House in London was a once in a lifetime experience. The music was great, was just like skating in a club, but more fun and more enjoyable. The company was awesome, and pesky. The pain was worth it.

We adjourned for supper after the skate session and I just spent the night out. Blissful.
