Over the week, we caught Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat at the Adelphi Theatre.

Unfortunately, we caught it at a bad time. The male lead for Joseph, Lee Mead was on vacation, and we got some other blonde guy acting as Joseph. I got nothing against blondes, but having a blonde Joseph singing just felt… wrong.

It was basically a bible story with a twist. The King (Elvis) appeared as the Pharaoh, there were children bouncing all around, the cook and butler was just hilarious. The musical started off slow, I was falling asleep, but slowly ramped up. I’m not a huge fan of Andrew Lloyd Webber, and I was actually extremely disappointed with his Phantom of the Opera. Lets say I have seen better musical around, and all of them didn’t have ALW in the creative team. Les Mis was so much better. The Narrator was really good though, and she was the definitely the hidden jewel anchoring the whole show.

Now that I have slightly more time to play with, I’m looking forward to spending more time out and catching up on things I have missed…
