Well, after all the anticipation and expectations and uncertainty over the last month, I guess it’s finally settled and I actually know where and what I will be doing.

It’s been a week or two at NIE, and well, lets just say I’m still getting used to the Singapore way of tertiary education. I am not against it, neither am I for it. Maybe I don’t see the point of some programmes, but I will just go through them. They might be useful, recommended by the experts, but it might be a futile lesson if participants are not wary of the benefits. I do not judge the system, and I will not judge it now. I will give my opinions a few years down the road maybe, and hopefully I see more benefits in some programmes.

I’m quite lucky to be involved in quite an exciting group of student-teachers. I’m quite glad that I have been able to work well with many of them, and I hope it will continue to be the case. As they put it, we are in this together, lets survive and kick-ass.

Very often, we might be forced by circumstances not to follow our desires, but we must never give up on them. We must remember to pursue these dreams that we know are right in other ways. A barrier should not stop our journey, but we must find another way around such issues. Some times it may not be the best way, but at least you know you tried. Sooner or later, we will reach our goals, as long as we are persistent and truthful to them. Everything else has another way, we just have to find them.
