Singtel just released their iPhone plans for Singapore, and no doubt it’s causing a stir. The data plans are MEASLY.

With all the different plans and discounts available for the different plans, the actual cost is confusing. Here I have done as much as I can to give a work out of cost of owning the iPhone based on the basic Singtel plans coupled with the various discount schemes!

These figures are based on a 12 month cycle (ya, I know 24mth contract, but I like to think in terms of annually!), inclusive of some form of data, either in the form included in iFlexi, or a seperate plan based on Broadband on Mobile [link: Singtel BBOM]. Included in the calculation is also a $100 phone trade-in! No promises they are definitely correct, but I tried to be as accurate as possible.

iFlexi Value: $920

New plan, not sure if valid with Generation Mio for subsidary line discount.

Free incoming, 200mins, 500 SMS and 1GB data [link: Singtel iFlexi Price Plan]

iOne Plus (with Generation mio): $1063 + $180 (contract top-up)

iOne Plus + Broadband on Mobile 1000

Calculated based on 10% discount as subsidary line with Generation Mio

$100 phone rebate and 30% discount to data from BBOM

*If you are currently contracted to mio, you may top-up $180 and sign a new 30month contract for the iPhone.

iOne Plus (without Generation mio): $1094

iOne Plus + Broadband on Mobile 1000

$100 phone rebate and 30% discount to data from BBOM

Classic (with Generation mio and 4 year loyalty): $784 (~$830 w/o loyalty) + $180 (contract top-up)

Classic + Broadband on Mobile 1000

$100 phone rebate and 30% discount to data from BBOM

Generation mio gives 50% discount to subsidary lines. *If you are currently contracted to mio, you may top-up $180 and sign a new 30month contract for the iPhone.

Classic: $913 (~$1010 w/o Loyalty)

Classic + Broadband on Mobile 1000

$100 phone rebate and 30% discount to data from BBOM

Calculations:

EDIT (2100h 20Aug): Removed $100 rebates, since Singtel did a quickie and erased the promo off their website.

EDIT (2250h 20Aug): Added top-up terms for Generationo mio contract users.
