Zurich Conquered on 28/03/2005 to 30/03/2005 Zürich is the largest city in Switzerland and capital of the canton of Zürich. The city is Switzerland's main commercial centre and home to the country's largest airport. We arrived here in the midafternoon, and spent about an hour getting to our hotel. By the time we got settled down, it was evening and time for dinner. After dinner, me and Weili went for a stroll around the city, while Allan decided he wanted to return to the room for a rest. We took a 2 hour stroll along the streets, in the light breeze, gawking at people and shops. People must have thought me and Weili were either nuts or were aliens.
The next day, we did sightseeing for the city in the morning. Europe's filled with cathedrals (you MUST have already noticed this far into this site), and Switzerland's no exception. The 2 main attractions in Zurich are the Grossmunster and Fraumunster, both unique in their own ways.
After visiting the 2 cathedrals, we went to the Bahnhofsstrasse, one of the world's most famous shopping streets! You can see Prada, Louis Vitton, CK... the list just goes on. Designer fashion, book shops, flowers, watches, cafes galore!
After a long day, it was time to have our last dinner in Switzerland. After contemplation, we found ourselves in a "Marche" style eating area, and plonged down for dinner. It was one of the cheapest dinners, and one of the best as well. Here, the tiramisu deserves special mention. It only cost sF2 (S$4.40), but it's the BEST i've ever tasted. Beats the hell out of any tiramisu I've ever eaten in Singapore. Friends who know me know how much of a gourmet I am, and if say a cake's good, it must be! =) Thinking back now, I'm still droooling.
With that, we returned to the hotel, and had a nice rest, for we would leave Zurich the next day, flying back to Singapore Changi International Airport via Malaysian Airlines. Read more in the information page! click to view the pages
